Have you ever wondered what happens when you are a senior student on the cusp of graduation? Well you are in luck because this is what this whole blog post is about.

Before we dive into it, I would like to point out that to everyone their own experience. Some students would say that it was the most stressful year of their 4-year degree while others would say the opposite. Personally, I think that all senior students have one thing in common which is graduation and transitioning to the real world.

Although I am no longer a senior student I do still remember a thing or two about it. I am delighted to be collaborating with my dear friend and a current senior bio-major student Saja AlJarrah. Saja and I have met through our journey in UAEU as we are pursuing our degrees in Cellular and Molecular Biology. She is incredibly passionate about pursuing medicine after graduating from UAEU. Saja also has her incredible instagram account (Pre_med00) that she shares various things from class notes to medical program plans while also inspiring others to pursue their dreams.

So, without further ado let's see what life as a senior student looks like through Saja's lenses:

People usually think that life as a graduate or a senior student is relaxing… sure you’re done with all the course work from physics 2 to molecular biology of genes, but believe it or not as a senior who will be out of university in May. I have to say these months have been the most stressful months I’ve been through or am currently going through.

You know the feeling of crossing a bridge AKA the transition from high school to college? Crossing that bridge was so much easier because I knew the destination College but oh man… now I feel I’m crossing the longest bridge ever because I don’t know my destination yet… will I complete my post graduate degree, will I start working? Will I take a gap year? Will I go directly into medicine?

All these are questions I’m stressing about while crossing the longest bridge ever, but let me tell you that it’s completely normal. You’ll feel that you’re lost but eventually everything will piece together, I had Reem along the way to guide me of course. It’s always good have people around you to help build the bridge you’ll be crossing.

Life as a senior can be thrilling, scary, emotional and exciting, it depends on how you perceive specific situations and events in your academic life. I like to think that life as a senior or a graduate is training for the real world. Stepping into the job market, realizing that you now have to switch from a student cv to a work cv- wow that sounded scary just saying it, but as my amazing father always tells me. It’s one day, or day one, and life as a senior is only my day one of achieving all my goals and seeing my true potential as a cellular and molecular biologist who will use my degree in healthcare and medicine.

It’s okay to be lost and not sure what to do, if you are on Reem's website and you are reading my comment, and you need some sort of guidance feel free to contact and dm me on my instagram Pre_med00 so we can build your transition bridge together!

It is incredibly interesting how different our experiences as senior students could be, although we are graduating from the same college and major. It is as Saja mentioned all about how you perceive things and situations, as well as making certain decisions that can shape your whole experience whether good or bad. It also depends on many other factors such as adaptability and flexibility because sometimes things don't go as planned even when you really push for it.

Thank you Saja for sharing your experience as a senior student who is on the cusp of graduation.

I hope you liked this little collaboration!
