Why I started this site?

Truthfully – I always had this idea in the back of my mind but I always dismissed it. You ask why? Well, I have no idea what it takes to make a website, coding is intimidating when you barely know what is going on or even what is programming! Another part can be credited to the little Ms. perfectionist in me, that thinks that if I don't immediately excel at something from my first try then I have no talent.

I thought about this over and over, trying to perfect the idea of it. To see, know and understand all the different sides. This has been in the making since high-school, well theoretically speaking. I did zero effort into actually doing anything, partly because I just felt this whole thing is bigger than me. That I might not have enough to share.

Then enter the university years which was such an interesting time. As I was starting to get the idea of being a university student, covid hit. Too many changes at once!

As I was approaching my third year of university, I went through what I call a 'Third year crisis' when you are almost a senior but not yet and you are no longer a freshmen or sophomore so no one is cutting you some slack. You are now focusing on concentrated major courses and is expected to know all the basics from the top of your head with no hesitation. You have no idea what is going on, whether if you chose the correct major or not, whether the past three years were a waste or was it all worth it. When you are in spiral of doom, continuously confused by everything.

Then enter the senior year which I would refer to as the 'Nonchalant year' at least in my personal experience. It wasn't easy, because I hate referring to things as easy and hard. It was interesting, less stressful and much more smoother than I expected. It wasn't without its chaotic moments between finalizing graduation projects, updating CV's, attending job affairs and trying to take last minute labs and classes.

Well, now that I am a biologist, I felt this need in me to share my experience. To share the knowledge that I acquired over the years, not only from my university years but also from my high school years, from projects I worked on, books I read and interesting topics that added to my pool of knowledge.

Personally, I feel that what I know is only a sliver of what is out there and perhaps by sharing the tiny bit of knowledge I have, someone might get encouraged. Spark something within them or simply entertain someone with biology.

To me, if only one person benefits from whatever I share then my mission is complete. Knowledge is a valuable asset and I don't think anyone should be picky when sharing it.

So here goes my attempt of being imperfect and out of my comfort zone, here to a commitment that will not only help others but help me as well. As much as I want to believe that this is only for others to learn it is also for me to learn new things and open my heart to new adventures.

Join me in this journey of so much unknown, although scary we must embrace our sense of adventure. We are scientists after all!
